Erica has a Bachelor of Forestry Science from Canterbury University and has worked in the forest sector of New Zealand for over 20 years. She is passionate about engaging with students and sharing her learning and knowledge about trees, the environment and forestry. She has written three children’s books based on ‘real life’ situations explaining wood use, harvest machines and posing questions for young minds to enquire about the natural world around them. Erica is currently the CEO for two of the eight Wood Councils of New Zealand and leads engagement programmes for primary and secondary schools as part of her job; she owns her own forest, is married to a forester, and has a daughter currently studying Forestry Science at University. She considers herself from a forestry family and part of a wide forest community in New Zealand.
