Shaneel Shavneel Lal (They/Them) is the founder of the Conversion Therapy Action Group, a group working to end conversion therapy in Aotearoa. Lal is a columnist for HZ Herald and a Law student at the University of Auckland. Lal is a Young Justice Leader for New York University Center on International Cooperation, working to create people centred justice systems. Lal has served on Amnesty International’s Youth Task Force, Minister of Education’s Youth Advisory Group, Ministry of Social Development’s Social Cohesion Working Group and Ministry of Justice’s National Plan Against Racism Working Group. Lal has been a Global Youth Leader for Open Government Partnership and a recipient of Forbes 30 Under 30 Asia accolade.
