Saturday 11 June 2022, 1:00 PM – 2:00 PM, Waimarie/RSA. $15

A number of the world’s most popular films are adaptations of a loved book or play – think The Lord of the Rings, The Hobbit, Charlotte’s Web, The Book Thief, Whale Rider – and many others.

Luminaries of the film and writing worlds explore how Patricia Grace’s novel Cousins was transformed into a screenplay and film.

Patricia Grace, who wrote the novel 29 years before the film was produced, tells the unforgettable story of three cousins “connected by blood but separated by circumstances, who spend a lifetime in search of each other”.

Christina Andreef of the New Zealand Film Commission will join Patricia in conversation about the 29 year long journey of the novel Cousins becoming a successful film of the same name.

We acknowledge with thanks the funding support of Creative New Zealand.

Note: Due to unforeseen circumstances Briar Grace-Smith will no longer be able to attend this session as was previously advertised in the programme.
