Mrs Blackwell's High Tea: Love for the Garden

Sunday 12 June 2022, 3:00 PM – 4:30 PM, Doors open at 2:30 PM, Property Brokers Sports Hub. $50.

As the Arabian proverb says, “A book is like a garden carried in the pocket”.

This year, Featherston Booktown’s ever-popular and delightfully old-fashioned High Tea is proudly sponsored by Mrs Blackwell’s Village Bookshop.

As we devour a generous serving of sweet and savoury treats lovingly prepared by Jean and her dedicated volunteers, we will explore the special relationship between gardens, books and growing things with three writers who know a thing or two about it!

Join former bookseller and reviewer, Rob Kelly (as heard on RNZ), as he talks with journalist and plantaholic Lynda Hallinan (The Joy of Gardening) and Kāi Tahu writer and traditional Rongoā Māori health practitioner Arihia Latham about our love for gardens and nature.

Enjoy complimentary Mimosas from our wine sponsor for this event, JOIY.

Doors open at 2:30 PM. Books will be available for sale and signing.

Update: Unfortunately, due to a positive COVID test, Lynda is unable to appear in person. Instead, she will join the event live via Zoom on a large screen. We apologise for this change, and wish to thank you for your patience with such last minute programme alterations in what is proving to be a challenging time to organise a large public book festival!
