Storytelling at St John's
SATURDAY 8 MAY 2021, 1:00 PM – 3:30 PM
ST JOHN’S CHURCH HALL
There is a wealth of stories to be told about our local environment in and around Pae Tū Mōkai /Featherston - stories rich in mythology, symbolism and history. Kaumātua Ra Smith (Ngāti Kahungunu ki Wairarapa) will lead the line-up of storytellers for this event.
Mona Williams, a storyteller of 50 years’ experience, will share her Caribbean-Jewish vivacity, songs, clapping, dance and tales from many lands.
The afternoon kōrero will finish on a high note with Rachel McAlpine, author of the best-selling poetry collection How to Be Old, telling stories from her school days through to now - what it’s like being sassy and wise at 80!
